I finally got down to the Sir John Soane Museum after meaning to go for years. I thought that somehow the upstairs neighbours had got hold of an industrial strength (silent) tumble-dryer, though I did wonder why the motion seemed to be coming from under the bed. I hoped for a few excited moments that we might have suddenly acquired a friendly poltergeist.
